Already about a year ago the Japanese manufacturer Sony introduced the Xperia Pro, a special variant of the Xperia 1 II. Until yesterday you never heard of this special variant, which is aimed primarily at professional film and photo users. In the course of the presentation of the new Sony Alpha 1, the market launch of the Xperia Pro was announced for the US market.
The smartphone is offered there for as much as 2499, 99 US dollars. The Xperia Pro is definitely not a bargain. But what did Sony ride that they said such a high RRP (recommended retail price) for a smartphone that is actually already a year under its belt?
Well, on the one hand there is the integrated HDMI port. As is well known, this is missing in the normal Xperia 1 II. In addition, Sony advertises various special software features which, among other things, also harmonize with the new Sony Alpha 1. The Xperia Pro can be used as a viewfinder for a video camera, for example.
Ultimately, it is a smartphone that appeals to a very small group of buyers. I’m definitely not one of them.
